Choosing a Challenge
To participate, choose a challenge from the fourth grade lists in our hall or on the website. You can pick and choose from the challenges. They do not need to be studied in any specific order, and you do not need to complete all of the challenges to be a STAR!
Completing a Challenge
Write your name and date for each activity, the name of the subject, and the number of the challenge in your Mastery Club notebook (spiral notebook). The challenges you turn in must be in your very best handwriting and be organized and neat looking. You may not turn in pages printed directly from the Internet or copied from a book. Avoid plagiarism by writing your challenge information in your own words using your own writer’s VOICE. Work must also be in your own handwriting, and you should be able to read/explain your answers to me.
The Challenge Conference
Turn in your Mastery Club notebook to the Mastery Club area in your classroom as soon as it is completed. Your teacher will then set up a time with you to have a STAR or Student-Teacher Activity Report! Be prepared to present your new knowledge to your teacher.
Calculating Your Challenges
Completed challenges are worth 1 STAR. When you have completed 4 challenges, you will be awarded a STAR for the Mastery Club wall. Your name will then be added to the Mastery Club Hall of Fame! We will keep track of the amount of challenges you complete. You may complete as many as you like. You can be a 1 STAR member all the way up to a 149 STAR member! You'll receive certificates at the end of the year awards ceremony based on the STAR points you have earned.
