1. Student Information System (SIS) integration - Our new system will offer districts 3 ways to integrate their individual SIS with our system.
a. Automated, custom mapping using XML, built to School Interoperability Framework (SIF) standards, to ensure compatibility with most school SIS's.
b. Automated, custom mapping using ODBC (additional fees)
c. Customer generated, nightly query.
Once a connection is established, EZClassSites.com will securely connect to the SIS nightly to pull teacher and student information. Using this information, we will automatically create and update teacher and student accounts. We also give districts the option to have us automatically download scheduling information which can then be used to create event notifications on their district websites calendar for teachers, students, parents, and the community to view.
2. Messaging - For all administrative (district, school, and teacher) accounts, we provide an in-house, real name, SPAM free (to ensure CIPA/COPA compliance and E-Rate eligibility), messaging system that allows individuals to send messages to one another. For each login within your district account, individuals will be able to contact other users, save messages, create custom contact list, and much more. For increased security and supervision, teachers have the ability to monitor student accounts. Existing Email accounts can be attached; so that all messages received within the system will automatically be forwarded to the users existing email address and individuals outside the system can be emailed from directly within the system using your existing Email address.
3. Attendance Module - Our newest module will allow teachers to log into their account and take attendance daily for each class they teach. Using our simple system, teachers will be able to mark students as either, "Present," "Absent," or "Late." Administrative users then have the ability to view and modify the teacher's submission, further classifying late students as excused, unexcused, etc. Custom reports can be generated for specified time frames that can be viewed, printed, or saved for importation into the SIS.
4. Improved Homework/Assignment/Gradebook Module - For all accounts, we are upgrading our existing homework/assignment/gradebook module to be more streamlined. We are also expanding the module to allow for multiple grading criteria, including letter grades, percentile grades, standards based grades, and life skills/effort grades. Teachers will be able to post all assignments online for students and parents to view, create due dates, select if the assignment can be completed with a digital submission directly from their website, post grades for only the individual student and their parents to view, and download their gradebook as a text file to be viewed, saved, and/or imported into an appropriate software program for manipulation. In addition, the district will be able to establish term dates for the school year and due dates for teachers to complete and submit their grades. District and school accounts will be able to monitor a teacher's grade status (whether grades have been finalized and submitted), and send messages alerting teachers that grades are due, or coming due.
5. Nightly Emails to Parents - When student accounts are created using our automated SIS integration, parental contact information will also be obtained. Using this information, all parents in the system will be sent an auto-email nightly, that will include all assignments that are coming due, student grades that have been posted recently, attendance records for the student (if applicable), upcoming district, school, and teacher events, links to the district, school, and teacher's website, and direct Email links for all the student's teachers (Parents will have the ability to unsubscribe from this service if they desire to do so).
6. Custom Reporting - With every administrative account, user have the ability to create and download custom reports for viewing, printing, or import into the district's SIS. Teacher accounts have access to create reports for their individual classrooms and students. District and school accounts can create reports for all users within the system (assuming their account permissions allow access to the custom report module - see below). Using our proprietary system, users can specify time frames for the report and customize report headers to match their SIS, allowing for direct importation. Once a report is created, the user can save the report and schedule for the report to run automatically, whenever the user desires.
7. Content Control/Creation - School and District accounts will have to ability to view, edit, and/or create content for school and teacher sites. Districts will have the ability to view content that schools and teachers create so that content can be edited and/or removed if necessary (School accounts can view/edit content created by teachers at their school). Districts and school will also have the ability to create content and "push" that information to all users within the system (schools can only create, edit and push content to their teachers).
8. Multiple Logins - For all district and school sites, multiple administrative logins can be created so that administration, secretaries, human resources, etc., can access the site. For each account, permissions can be set to limit or expand what the user is able to do within the system, such as create content on the website, view grades, create custom reports, etc.
